Perth’s safest suburbs cluster in the western and southern coastal belt and outer hills — Cottesloe, Peppermint Grove, Dalkeith, Floreat, City Beach, Applecross, Bull Creek, Kalamunda and Roleystone consistently report the lowest combined crime rates per 100 residents. Each suburb gets a 0–100 safety percentile rank where 100 = safest. The score combines violent (assault, sexual, family), property (burglary, theft, vehicle) and other (drug, fraud) offences per 100 residents, then ranks every suburb against the WA-wide distribution. A per-100-residents rate is volatile when the population is small. A suburb of 200 people that records 4 burglaries shows the same rate as a suburb of 20,000 with 400 — but one is statistical noise, the other is a pattern.
